The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved a substantial $52 million grant to Atlanta for security preparations ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This significant federal investment will help ensure the safety and security of players, officials, and hundreds of thousands of fans expected to visit the city during the tournament. Atlanta is among the host cities selected for the expanded 48-team World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The funding will support enhanced security infrastructure, personnel training, and coordination with federal law enforcement agencies to manage one of the world’s largest sporting events.
