Iran Demands US World Cup 2026 Matches Moved to Mexico, FIFA Refuses Request

Iran has formally requested FIFA to relocate all World Cup 2026 matches scheduled in the United States to Mexico, citing political tensions and security concerns. The Iranian Football Federation submitted the proposal ahead of the tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. However, FIFA has officially rejected Iran’s demand, stating that venue changes at this stage would be logistically impossible and that the organization maintains strict political neutrality. The 2026 World Cup will mark the first time the tournament features 48 teams across three host nations, with the majority of matches planned for US venues.
